Plot Overview
A Hungarian immigrant hires a private detective to determine whether his daughter, a possible casualty of World War II, is still alive. After informing his client that the girl may be dead, the immigrant's wife has a heart attack and dies. Certain that the detective gave the couple false hopes and that led to the wife's death, the immigrant shoots and kills the detective, then goes after a leader in the Hungarian community whom he also holds responsible.
