Plot Overview
The wife of a prominent attorney calls on Wolfe after someone takes a shot at her husband, but she's soon killed thereafter. Suspecting that the killer is someone her husband put away when he was a District Attorney, Wolfe and Inspector Cramer settle in on one man--a man who was convicted of bank robbery and made a threat against the lawyer at sentencing. The accused man's daughter pays a visit to Wolfe, begging for help in clearing him.
