Plot Overview
Bailey has a girlfriend (Jennifer Love Hewitt) who is adopted. Her rich parents give her a credit card and she's overcompensating for love with the material things she can buy.
Charlie, who manages a restaurant, falls for Shelley who is a waitress. Shelley isn't interested in him so he cuts her hours and she quits. He tries to appologize but it doesn't work.
Julia's teacher makes a pass at her after reading what he thinks is "sexually explicit" poetry by her. She first tells her boyfriend, then the principal but the teacher gets to the principal first and Julia overhears them talking. Julia then thinks it's "her fault". After skipping school and thinking of dropping the class, she speaks to Charlie who says guys are like that (which makes him re-think what he did to Shelley).
Claudia befriends a juvenile deliquent who encourages her to get free ice cream, get cigarettes and drink rum. Claudia and her friend get drunk and Charlie finds them. After asking her not to hang out with this girl anymore, Claudia still sneaks out of school to meet her.
