The Canaries are expendable prisoners sent on dangerous missions to make sure it is safe, before allowing more valuable personnel to go in. When on a mission, they wear bright yellow vests. They are equipped and armed if necessary. In exchange for the risks they take, they receive various privileges in the Tank.
