Remote Control is a game show that aired on MTV. It was MTV's first non-music oriented show and first game show.
The show was set in a studio setting of a basement with elements of classic game show hosts festooned about, including a Pez dispenser head of Bob Eubanks. Three contestants competed to answer questions about pop culture. They sat in easy chairs and used their remotes to select one of nine categories. The contestants rang in to answer for points.
In round two, the lowest score eliminated that contestant, known as being "Off the Air." The two remaining players played the "Lightning Round," answering as many questions as possible in 60 seconds.
The high scorer vied for $5000 by identifying nine music video artists in 30 seconds while strapped to a Craftmatic Adjustable Bed. In the syndicated show, the bonus round was the "Wheel of Jeopardy," with the contestant strapped to a spinning wheel and answering ten questions. The final MTV season's bonus round was a hybrid of the first two.
