Robotboy
Robotboy is an animated comedy that aired on Cartoon Network in the UK. It was produced in cooperation with Alphanim and France 3 and aired in Europe before coming to America.
Tommy Turnbull is a little boy in San Francisco who is a fan of robots and in particular robot builder Professor Moshimo. The professor had been developing a prototype of a little robot who could be used as an ultimate fighting machine and is afraid it may fall into evil hands. He sends this robot--named Robotboy--to Tommy for safe keeping. It is through this stay that Tommy and Robotboy become friends and Robotboy becomes curious about what being a real boy is like. Robotboy is activated by a device Tommy wears on his wrist. If he is involuntarily deactivated, it is due to either low battery power or a loss of oil in his system.
Tommy has two friends: Lola Mbola, a sweet girl of African descent who seems to have a crush on him and is always ready for adventure; and Augustus Bachman Turner (Gus for short, or "the G-man" informally), a crass, vulgar rolypoly of a kid with an appetite for anything not nailed down. (Not surprising since his foster home is run by Amish folk.)
Robotboy is coveted by Dr. Kamikazi, a mad genius with designs on using Robotboy to attack the world with an army of such robots. Kamikazi is assisted, and sometimes hindered, by his stooge Constantine. Robotboy is also sought after by government agents who think he's an alien. Tommy has to ensure that his family--most of all his dad and his obnoxious older brother Donnie--doesn't know anything save for that Robotboy is just a toy.
