Sapphire & Steel is a sci-fi adventure that aired on ITV. The series centered around the adventures of Sapphire & Steel, who were time agents (or Elements) sent to take care of disturbances in the fabric of time. These disturbances manifested themselves in numerous ways, either becoming a beast/entity, or taking control of a human, or causing some kind of phenomenon, all of these things trying to find ways of staying in the present time and causing chaos. S&S are sent to find out what has triggered the episode, and to find a way of returning time to normal. There are meant to be more than one 'Element', as mentioned at the start of every episode - Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel, but the only other agent ever seen in any episode is Silver.
