Basic Information
Daphne Ann Blake is the 17-year-old redheaded beauty of Mystery Inc. She is usually paired with Fred Jones when the gang splits up to look for clues. Her catch phrase is "Jeepers!" which she uses in times of fright. Daphne has been known for occasional clumsiness which has resulted in the ineffectiveness of the capture of the episode's fake ghost; this has since been attributed to an ancestoral trait from her Scottish heritage (Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness Monster).
In later shows, Daphne has been shown as the team mystery buster as she was paired up with Shaggy and Scooby in several shows--she is a reporter for a mystery magazine in The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show. In A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, she is portrayed as a vainglorious, spoiled and rich teenybopper.
Daphne is based on Dobie Gillis character Thalia Menninger, a love interest of Dobie's. Some Scooby fan communities has seen Daphne and Fred as a romantic pair, and this has infrequently surfaced in the made-for-TV movies and the pilot for Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.
