Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI) is a media company based in Knoxville, Tennessee. If was spun off The E.W. Scripps Company on July 1, 2008.


Scripps Networks

The E.W. Scripps Company launched in December 1994 their first cable channel Home & Garden Television (HGTV). The Scripps Networks expanded in 1997 through acquisition of a controlling interest in the Food Network, launched DIY Network in 1999, and Fine Living Network (FLN) in 2002. Great American Country (GAC) was acquired from Jones Radio Networks in October 2004. The five Scripps Networks cable channels and two interactive media services were spun off from The E.W. Scripps Company on July 1, 2008.

After the separation SNI acquired a controlling interest in Travel Channel from Cox Communications in December 2009. The Fine Living Network was rebranded in May 2010 as Cooking Channel. SNI announced in March 2012 the pending acquisition of Travel Channel International Ltd., owner of the Travel Channel brand outside North America and operating more than 20 unrelated Travel Channel versions in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
