Sitcom
Sitcom (or situation comedy) is a comedy program with recurring characters where one or more comical storyines begin and end over the course of an episode. Sitcoms are typically 30-minute multi-camera programs, and they are usually centered around a family or a workplace.
Traditionally, at the end of an episode, the conflicts are all resolved, and the characters return in the next episode with little or no mention of the events of the previous episode. Recently, however, elements of serialization have entered the genre, mostly in the form of multi-episode story arcs about romances between characters (the relationship between Ross and Rachel during the first few seasons of Friends, for example).
