SmurfsSeason Two

Squeaky is part of the tenth episode of the second season of Smurfs, and the thirty-sixth episode overall.

A magic scroll, known as the Kaplowey Scroll, plays the central part in this episode. It's a scroll that the Smurfs find first and, upon realizing that it can, by its bearer shouting out the word "kaplowey," make things disappear. It soon becomes a race against time as they realize that if Gargamel gets his hands on it and is able to find out the secret word, he can kill all the Smurfs once and for all.

Plot Overview

As the episode opens, Gargamel and Azrael are searching the forest for a secret Wizard's Chamber, wherein he says is a magic scroll that will allow him to become the most powerful wizard on Earth. He says the scroll will allow its bearer, once he translates it, to utter a powerful word, and it will among other things allow him to kill all the Smurfs once and for all.

However, Clumsy accidentally finds the Wizard's Chamber first, and upon coming across the scroll takes it to Papa Smurf. Papa Smurf translates the scroll and realizes that its power – saying the word "kaplowey" – allows its bearer to make things disappear, including (to his deep fear) other Smurfs. Papa Smurf concludes the scroll holds potentially devastating powers and that if it is uttered in the wrong context grave consequences could result. He tells the Smurfs to not use "that word," and then asks the Smurfs to police themselves in not using the word. However, several Smurfs are unable to resist using the word to deal with various situations, such as tripping over a sack of flour, getting rid of rain clouds and removing a large rock in a field.

Things come to a head when Grouchy is the latest victim of Jokey's exploding box. Grouchy has had enough of him and shouts out "KAPLOWEY!" ... making Jokey disappear, perhaps forever. Grouchy is immediately upset after he realizes his fellow Smurf may be dead.

Papa Smurf instructs Clumsy and the others to return the Kaplowey Scroll to the Wizard's Chamber immediately, as they try to deal with Jokey's apparent death. However, Gargamel and Azrael (who have reached the Wizard's Chamber) hide until the Smurfs are gone, after which they take the scroll. Papa Smurf is still uneasy about the scroll and, hoping to also reverse some of the recent incidents, goes to the Chamber to make the scroll disappear. However, he discovers the scroll is gone, and a frightened Papa Smurf instantly concludes that Gargamel likely has discovered it. Realizing that if Gargamel were to learn that the magic word to enact its powers is "kaplowey," he and his fellow Smurfs could be "kaploweyed" into extinction in a matter of seconds, and it's now a race to Gargamel's castle.

The Smurfs arrive just as Gargamel has discovered the word "kaplowey." Just as Gargamel is about to consecrate his plans, the Smurfs shout out the word "KAPLOWEY!" which removes the door to the castle. Gargamel is caught off guard and before he can regain his bearings, the Smurfs shout out "KAPLOWEY" once again, destroying the scroll once and for all and causing Jokey and Sloppy's pet fly, Fly, to reappear. Gargamel is forced to go on the defensive, but when he yells out the word "KAPLOWEY!" all he gets is a sack of flour that he stumbles over and then a large rain cloud, which rains down on Gargamel as he cries in frustration over his ruined plans.
