- Pet Sematary - Pet Sematary is a novel by Stephen King published in 1983 about a family who moves to a rural area in Maine. When the family cat dies, Louis buries him in an ancient burial ground just past the local pet cemetary where it rises from the dead. Later on, his son is killed by a truck and is soon warned about using the burial grounds but goes through with the plan. The old man who tells Mr. Statch not to bury Butters' body is a clear reference to Jud Crandall, the old man who warns Louis.
