Square Enix is a Japanese company known mainly for the production of popular video games, most notably role-playing games such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. They have also released works in other media, such as the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children movie and manga (comics) like Fullmetal Alchemist (later adapted into a popular anime series).

Square Enix was actually formed by the merger of two separate companies, Square Co. and Enix. Enix holds the majority shares, but Square executives were given the top positions in the company.
