Talk:FRONTLINE/Season Twenty-Four
I see that the episode numbering has been altered. Do we have to consider "The O.J. Verdict" to be the first episode of season 24 when all the official sources (Web site, program guide data) number it as the last episode of season 23? Is it written in stone somewhere that the last episode of a season has to be aired in the Summer? It seems confusing to me and it's really going to confuse anyone who tries to cross-reference these numbers with anyone else's. -Quadpus 05:41, 13 April 2006 (EDT)
- The official website list episodes by calendar year, not by season. I found no good listing that placed the episodes into seasons so I used my own discretion. Since this episode aired only two weeks before "The Torture Question" and over three months after "Private Warriors", I placed it into season twenty-four. DCEbot 10:01, 13 April 2006 (EDT)
- While they don't explicitly list them by season, if you look at the list for 2005, you'll see that OJ Verdict links to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/programs/info/2316.html. I take this to mean "season 23, episode 16", and they use this numbering scheme consistently. My local station uses these same numbers: http://www.kcts.org/SeriesSchedule.asp?N1=FRON and if you search google for "OJ Verdict" 2316 you'll find lots of similar lists - OJ is always 2316 and Torture Question is always 2401. I guess OJ Verdict was probably meant to air earlier and was bumped for some reason, but I think it makes sense to keep the original numbering. Quadpus 20:23, 13 April 2006 (EDT)
I've changed my thoughts about the numbering. Starting the season with OJ Verdict will make more sense. Using the official number in such a strict way will lead to more confusion, especially when episodes are shown out of order or cancelled, or unnumbered specials are shown. As long as we have the official number someplace, I'm happy, so I've been filling in the "Production Number" field with this. Quadpus 21:34, 3 May 2006 (EDT)
