Talk:Family Guy

From The TV IV

Ok, I just made this now to test how this thing works and because it hadn't been done. I'm not claiming this as my show, anyone can contribute (or correct) at will. - Kash

The Simpsons makes some effort on continuity, whereas Family Guy impiously flaunts their lack thereof. I think that misleading comparison should be changed, but I'm pretty new here and don't wanna do it myself. --Edgarde 04:19, 13 Sep 2005 (EDT)

You can make changes if you wish; that's why it's a Wiki. Feel free to make other changes as you see fit; I've already made the change dealing with the comparison.

  • I would disagree... in ways it has more continuity than The Simpsons. Okay, the fantasy cutaways are completely separate from the main continuity, but the characters have developed to a degree: for example, Peter changed careers, and Cleveland and Loretta broke up. Of course, on the other hand, Bonnie has been pregnant since the first season. Gid 10:56, 11 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Season Numbering

Is there consensus yet on the season numbering? I was under the impression that Family Guy was just on a hiatus like many other shows have and that we were now returning to the second half of season 4, making it two halves of 10 episodes, ammounting to the same number of episodes as were in the two preceding seasons. The official website also numbers the most recent episodes as being part of season 4, though some fan sites and this wiki page are numbering them as being in a new 5th season. Is there an official source for this sort of information, like the broadcaster or producers and would such a source be respected as official by wiki users? Who has the final call? All the same issues apply to American Dad, are we in season 2 or still in season 1 of that now? -MadEyeTed 11:41, 22 Sep 2005 (EDT)

  1. You would be correct. I'm going to change it now since a break in airing doesn't constitute the end of a season. --IndieRockLance 12:27, 22 Sep 2005 (EDT)
  2. That may be so but nearly everywhere (including epguides which I get most information from) is calling it season 5, so I' not really sure. --Kash 10:23, 27 Sep 2005 (EDT)
  3. imdb and most bittorrent sites say it's season 5, however tv.com and, most importantly, fox say that it is still season 4
  4. During the promotions after the hiatus, Fox themselves called it "a new season of Family Guy". The new season premiered with the rest of the Fall Season premieres on Foxs lineup. --Travan 19:38, 9 Oct 2005 (EDT)
    1. I think they called it "the new season of Family Guy" since it was still the new season. The point is that their website says that it's the fourth season and the DVD set is advertised as containing all of season four and includes all of the episodes on the season four page listing (no separation to indicate a fifth season). FOX wouldn't give it such a short season at this point anyway. They only do the 8 episode season for the first season of a series. --IndieRockLance 23:13, 9 Oct 2005 (EDT)
