Dispute

This page makes a claim that the post 1955 Hallmark Hall of Fame are movies, and not television series. This is an opinionated claim. If it can be proven factually true (through verifiable sources), then that's fine. Otherwise, the language should be softened to convey that opinions may vary. There are two solutions to this dispute.

  1. Verifiable scholarly source which makes this distinction. This includes peer-reviewed scholarly journals or scholarly encyclopedias.
  2. Moving this page to Hallmark Hall of Fame (1955) or Hallmark Hall of Fame (1955-) (either of which is fine for me). And changing the language of the article to convey that whether or not this is an anthology series or made-for-tv movies is a matter of opinion. --MateoP 19:31, 4 August 2006 (EDT)
Oh, for Christ's sake.
Call it whatever you want, MateoP. Just so long as it's distinct from the 1952 anthology series and would also include those productions which predate the anthology series and those productions which air afterwards. Jesus. JCaesar 19:43, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

Actually, upon further research, I found an article from Electronic Media (which is now TV Week) from 12/3/2001 (Volume 20, Issue 49, p. 14) commemorating the 50th anniversary of HHOF. It made no distinction between the supposed 1955 split. Therefore, from what I can tell, I fail to see any reason why the two should have seperate articles at all. Of course, the fact that they changed the formatting in 1955 should be included in the article, but I haven't found a source when described them as being seperate series.

Also, this article described them all, pre and post 1955, as "specials". --

That's because the specials produced by HHOFP which also aired during the series are included under the banner "Hallmark Hall of Fame," and some of those aired before the series, which is why I made the distinction. There was a series which aired weekly on NBC from 1952-1955. ONLY A QUARTER OF THE EPISODES WHICH AIRED AS PART OF THAT SERIES WERE PRODUCED BY HHOF PRODUCTIONS, HOT DAMMIT! HHOF refers to them all—episodes of the weekly series or no—as part of its "series" of movies, I never said there was a split at 1955, which is why I distinguished them the way I did.
If you can think of a better term for the distinction, knock yourself out. I'm really tired of this. JCaesar 19:51, 4 August 2006 (EDT)
Actually, far less than a quarter. According to Hallmark's own list, like, six episodes were produced by Hallmark. Which is funny, because the anthology series (you know, the actual series which aired weekly and was a series) had about 100 episodes. That's the whole reason I made the distinction, but you have another opinion, so knock yourself out, sport. JCaesar 19:57, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

My point is that I am failing to find a source which distinguishes between them as being different series at all. I now have a second source, Broadcast & Cable from 2/19/2001 (Volume 131, Issue 8, p. 50) which also commemorates the 50th anniversary. Neither of which say anything about there being two seperate programs.

The fact that they changed the formatting a couple of times doesn't seem like a compelling reason why there should be two articles on the series. Nor is the fact that there were different production groups. Even the post-1955 specials weren't all produced by HHOF according to the Electronic Media article. I think a single article, which gives the information on the series changes, is most appropriate for this single series. --MateoP 20:04, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

I think the best solution would be a single article, with a seperate table for the weekly run. --MateoP 20:08, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

Better yet, I'll simply rename this to (Specials) and leave the seperate 1952 article. --MateoP 20:12, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

What's the difference betwe...?
You know what? Never mind. If you're happy, I can go do something constructive with my life again. JCaesar 20:16, 4 August 2006 (EDT)
