Isis

Wouldn't the fact that Isis was created for the Shazam/Isis hour make her a DC Comics creation, even if she didn't appear in any comics until much later? I mean, Harley Quinn and Renee Montoya are DC Comics characters even though they didn't appear in the comics until later. --IndieRockLance 21:26, 29 August 2006 (EDT)

Isis was created by Filmation specifically for the television show. DCEdwards1966 | Talk 22:37, 29 August 2006 (EDT)
But her show was a spin-off of Shazam so it's based in the same mythology and as a result DC Comics owns the character so it's technically "their" character and always has been.The-jam 00:38, 30 August 2006 (EDT)
DC had nothing to do with the creation of the show. Filmation wanted a female based companion show to Shazam!. Instead of licensing an existing female character, they created their own. Isis had no connection to Captain Marvel other than the fact that their shows aired during the same hour. DCEdwards1966 | Talk 11:44, 30 August 2006 (EDT)
According to Wikipedia and IMDb, Isis appeared in three episodes of Shazam!. -- Lampbane 12:09, 30 August 2006 (EDT)
Green Hornet appeared in an episode of Batman and Green Hornet is also not based on a DC Comics character. DCEdwards1966 | Talk 12:44, 30 August 2006 (EDT)
But Green Hornet never ended up in the DC universe proper, nor was he even part of the same show/programming package like Isis was. -- Lampbane 13:35, 30 August 2006 (EDT)

Agree with DCEdwards1966. --MateoP 23:06, 29 August 2006 (EDT)

  • The Zeta Project was included on the list, even though its main character was created for television, and does not appear in the comics (as far as I know). I say it's the same case as Isis. If we get rid of Isis, Zeta Project should go to. I'm for keeping both programs on the list, but adding a footnote that mentions the fact that they are spinoff characters created for television. -- Lampbane 10:55, 30 August 2006 (EDT)
If The Zeta Project has nothing to do with DC Comics then it should be removed. Batman Beyond didn't exist in comics either, but it was based on an existing DC comics character. If The Zeta Project is based on Batman Beyond, as I believe it is, then it should also be in the list. DCEdwards1966 | Talk 11:44, 30 August 2006 (EDT)
