Happenings

  • The Brotherhood: The final scenes of the episode reveal that the Brotherhood of Evil has expanded to include nearly every villain the Titans have faced throughout the series. They hint at a plan to destroy the heroes of the world.

Trivia

The Show

  • The Heroes: On the monitors at the end of the episode, you can clearly see: The Doom Patrol, The Teen Titans, Aqualad, Tramm, Mas Y Menos, Hotspot, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, Red Star, Bushido, Argent, Jericho, Bumblebee, Speedy, Wildebeest, Thunder, Lightning, Pantha, Killowat and Herald.
  • The "Fab Five" Reunited: Speedy, Aqualad, Robin, Kid Flash, and Wonder Girl ("Unidentified Female Character #7") appear on adjacent monitor screens -- this is a nod to the very first comic book incarnation of the Teen Titans, in which those five characters were the founding members.
  • Extended Brotherhood: At the end of the episode, an extended version of the Brotherhood of Evil is revealed, including: Warp, Phobia, Overload, Plasmus, Cinderblock, Killer Moth, Kitten, Fang, Mammoth, Jinx, Gizmo, Psimon, Dr. Light, Control Freak, Wintergreen, Red X, Triton, Kardiak, Atlas, Le Blanc, Adonis, Master of Games, Ding Dong Daddy, Puppet King, Bob and The Source, Billy Numerous, Malchior, Jonny Rancid, Professor Chang, Punk Rocket, Katarou, See-More, Mother Mae-Eye, Steamroller, the former HIVE Academy Headmistress, Mumbo, the Witch from Cyborg the Barbarian, Cheshire and several HIVE Academy students.
  • Where's Waldo: The Brotherhood of Evil includes almost every villain from past episodes of Teen Titans. The most notable villains missing from the line-up are Slade, Brother Blood and Trigon.
  • What's Continuity?: Red X, Mumbo, Mad Mod, Malchior, Puppet King, Warp and The Source all appear in the villains line-up despite being either destroyed or generally incapacitated in previous episodes.
  • The Fearsome Five: As with the five founding Titans shown together in the hero lineup, a similar reference to the comic books was made in the panoramic of the villains. Jinx, Mammoth, Dr. Light, Gizmo, and Psimon make up the Fearsome Five villain team, and appear standing together at the end of this episode.

Behind the Scenes

  • Brotherhood of Doom: Although Teen Titans is not in the DC Animated Universe, the season of Teen Titans is very similar to the fifth season of Justice League Unlimited, where a single group of villains attempts to create a greater union in order to cope with a greater amount of foes.

Allusions and References

  • Sun Tzu: Sun Tzu was a Chinese military strategist who is though of as one of the grestest military minds the world has known. His most notable work is The Art of War, written some time between 400 BCE and 320 BCE. However, contrary to Immortus's comment, it is theorized that Sun Tzu may have never existed in a historical context.
