Plot Overview
A recovering alcoholic has a momentary lapse while watching her adopted son. That, along with her leaving the baby to answer a phone call, leads to the baby's accidental drowning. After an inquest rules that there was no criminal liability, the child's birth mother shows up, claiming to know the truth about the circumstances of her baby's death...and she's determined to drive the adopted mother fully into alcoholism again, hoping to take her place as the lady of the house.
