Plot Overview
On the eve of giving testimony, Peter and Virginia begged Virginia's brother Nathan Porterfield to release $4,000 from Virginia's trust account to cover the money being investigated by the grand jury. Nathan flatly refused and wondered how Virginia managed to get a man like Dalton all the way to the district attorney's office. A desperate Peter phoned Mike, requesting that he delay convening the grand jury. Peter argued that he has not been given enough time to adequately document his finances; however, Mike declined his request and said that the grand jury will convene tomorrow with or without Dalton's testimony. With no other options, Peter went to see Phillips and stated that he has no choice but to reveal in open court that Phillips gave him the money. A menacing Phillips suggested that Peter testify to anything except the truth, warning him that there must be no other connection between the 2.
