Plot Overview

James Laner, Patricia Laner--Interstate Transportation of Stolen Property

A heroin-addicted architect, in desperate need of money, asks his wife, a brokerage firm employee, to steal stock certificates to sell. The certificates, stolen in Chicago, are eventually found in Cleveland, and a man who was to buy the certificates is arrested. Erskine goes undercover at the Chicago firm to get close to several potential employees who are suspected of the thievery. Meanwhile, the husband, who's trying to garner more heroin, is encouraged by his supplier, who works for the Syndicate, to get more stolen stocks, but the supplier's boss, a Syndicate leader, decides that the couple is a liability and orders them killed.
