The Harlem Globetrotters is an animated comedy that aired on Saturday mornings on CBS. It is based on the live-action comedy basketball team of the same name.

The series focused on the Globetrotters traveling from place to place in their red-white-and-blue bus (driven by their coach Granny and assisted by their dog mascot Dribbles) only to become engaged in conflict with ne'er-do-wells. The Globetrotters sought to make things right and still make time for a basketball game.

Cartoon liberties are taken with the Globetrotters' court antics, as the team used anything from kites to motor scooters to even a legal court dias to score against their opponents. The team's live-action performances usually involved sleight-of-hand with the ball and general mischief with the referees.

In 1972 and 1973, the Globetrotters appeared on The New Scooby-Doo Movies. In 1978, the Globetrotters' show was slotted in by NBC as a mid-season replacement under the umbrella title Go Go Globetrotters. In 1979, they were turned into superheroes as The Super Globetrotters, and the same year they made an apperance in a segment of Fred and Barney Meet The Thing.
