Season Five of The Lone Ranger premiered on September 13, 1956. Production of the series had switched to color for this, the show's final season.
In the late 1970s, series producer Jack Wrather Productions began syndicating the color episodes by re-releasing them as a series of 13 90-minute TV movies, with each movie being comprised of three episodes edited together. For those movies, a new opening introduction with a different theme (titled "Hi-Yo Silver" and written by Lenny Adelson and Les Baxter) was used, using clips from the 1958 United Artists feature film The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold, which featured an abbreviated version of the Lone Ranger's origin story.[1]
