The Millionaire is a anthology drama that aired on CBS. Essentially a character study, the show features an unseen philanthropist, John Beresford Tipton, who sends out checks for $1 million to a different person each week. The show's drama is how the sudden windfall effects the recipient in some way. The show was so believable that CBS would get flooded with letters from the viewers asking for a check for $1 million. It went into replays on CBS daytime in the fall of 1960.
