The Newlywed Game is one of the game show genre's most famous--and infamous--icons. It first aired daytime on ABC and premiered the same day that a press conference by Secretary of State Robert McNamara bumped Password on CBS.

Four newlywed couples compete. One spouse is secluded off stage. Questions are asked to the on-stage mate who must predict how his/her mate will answer the question. Four questions are played. The spouses are reunited and the same questions asked. If their answers match they score five points. Many incorrect answers has led to discord among the couples, much to the amusement of the audience.

The couples trade places in round two, and the questions now worth 10 points. The fourth question in round two is worth 25 points. The highest scoring couple wins a grand prize selected especially for them.

The Newlywed Game would pop up several more times since. Host Bob Eubanks had worked as a deejay at Los Angeles radio station KFWB, where he promoted the Beatles' concert appearance there.
