Plot Overview
After a week away, Lucas returns to the ranch to learn that Mark now has a job at Nils Swenson's livery stable. Despite Mark's assurances that he can both work at the stable and still get his chores and homework done on time, Lucas has his doubts. He also doesn't quite understand Mark's sudden need for money. When Swenson sends Mark to deliver a re-shod horse to a nearby ranch, Mark decides to take a shortcut but encounters a desperate killer.
