Plot Overview

The railroad is coming ever closer to North Fork. The man in charge of line shack number 6, John Gangling, runs an efficient operation. The men work hard and are paid on time and in gold. One of them is known to keep a fairly large amount of his wages in a money belt and Gangling kills him for it. As luck would have it, an Indian comes by just after the killing and Gangling goes on the offensive accusing him of the murder. Railroad justice is swift and when the Indian is found hiding in Lucas McCain's barn, both of them face Gangling in whose hands rest the final judgment of guilt or innocence.
