Plot Overview

Kansas Sawyer, A friend of Luke's, tell him and Mark that one Colonel Bourbon is bringing his horse-trading business to town for a day. Kansas and his wife buy a horse from the trader. The trader causes an injury to the horse, hoping Kansas will bring the horse back and sell him back for half-price. Meanwhile, Luke and Mark, having looked at Col Bourbon's stock, buy the lamed horse from Kansas. Luke discovers not only the horse-trader's ruse, but also finds that the horse is stolen, and being sought by two outlaws interested in the reward for the stolen horse. Luke must deal with the situation and in so doing he helps Mark to learn something about horse-trading.
