Plot Overview
A shootout with a burglary suspect results in Willie's veteran partner being killed. He had a tough choice...pursue the killer or remain with his partner until help arrived. He chose the latter. That, along with his failure to shoot at the suspect because he didn't have a clear shot, makes him the object of scorn by a number of other veteran officers, including the dead man's former partner, who wants to have it out with him. Adding to all of his troubles, Willie also feels bad that the dead man's widow, to whom he delivered the bad news, grabbed his gun and shot herself with it. Eventually, the cops search for a witness, a drunken bum, who can back up Willie's version of events.
