Plot Overview

After wrapping up filming on another episode of the Scooby Doo show, Shaggy starts to get an idea that Scooby can do better than Saturday morning. Shaggy and Scooby announce to Fred, Velma and Daphne that Scooby is leaving his show, and the two go about preparing a series of proposed pilots for a Scooby Doo prime time show to present to the network chief (whether or not it's ABC's president was never made clear). The pilots run the gamut, spoofing Laverne & Shirley, Happy Days, The Love Boat, The Donny & Marie Show, even westerns, and in each instance Scooby proves to be as clumsy and addled as he is on his Saturday morning show.

Meanwhile, Fred, Velma and Daphne launch an audition for a new dog to replace Scooby--none of them much good. With the help of the network head, they hatch a plan to convince Scooby to go back to his Saturday morning show.
