Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment is the thirteenth episode of the second season of The Simpsons, and the twenty-sixth episode overall.
Lisa and Homer conflict in a debate over morality after Homer acquires an illegal cable television hookup, and her concerns are furthered when she brings the subject up during a Sunday School lesson. When Homer decides to have a watch party for a highly-anticipated championship boxing match, will he have the time of his life, or will Lisa prodding his conscience get the best of him?

Allusions and References
- Boxing
- Andy Bowen vs. Jack Burke: In the scene where Homer's guests leave, Mr. Burns makes a remark about having watched a bare-knuckles match that went 113 rounds. This references a time when matches went until there was a definite winner or it was clear neither boxer could continue, and in this case resembling the Bowen-Burke match that went 110 rounds until the match was declared a draw.
- Gentleman Jim Corbett: Burns refers to the 19th-century boxer, who was also known to have very lengthy boxing matches.
- James "Buster" Douglas: Watson (no first name), modeled after the world champion boxer, is the challenger to Drederick Tatum's world championship.
- Don King: Lucius Sweet is Drederick Tatum's manager and an expy to Mke Tyson's manager
- Mike Tyson: Drederick Tatum is an obvious expy of Mike Tyson. Tatum's character is also shaped by the real-life Tyson: his violent criminal record, pre-professional boxing career, high-pitched lisping voice and activism for Black causes.
- Broadcast News: Broadcast Nudes, the X-rated film seen on the adult network Top Hat Entertainment; its title is a pun on the James L. Brooks-authored film.
- North By Northwest: The scene of Homer getting hit by a truck (driven by the illegal cable TV salesman) is modeled after a scene from the 1959 Alfred Hitchcock spy thriller.
- The Ten Commandments: The episode's opening scene of Moses on Mount Sinai parodies the 1956 religious drama starring Charlton Heston as Moses.
