The Cadillac Dreams are two dream sequences from The Sopranos episode 4x11 - Calling All Cars.
Dreams Synopsis
In the first dream, Tony is in the back seat of his father's black Cadillac Eldorado. Carmela is driving, while Ralph sits next to her, bald and dressed in a grey suit. Upbeat music is playing from the radio; when Ralph changes station, a voice is heard saying "And now the news", followed by a chaotic mix of noises (an alarm from a Police car, gunfire, screams, explosions). Ralph says something unlistenable to Carmela, who nods compliant.
A caterpillar plods on Ralph's head. The voice of Gloria asks "You wanna take it for a test drive?" and Tony turns on the seat next to him, finding her at his side. When he turns back the caterpillar has turned into a butterfly, and Ralph turns his head towards Tony. When Tony turns towards Gloria again Svetlana is sitting next to him, and smiles silently as she sees him. Tony turns towards Carmela, who is now short haired and turns her head from him. Distressed, Tony turns towards Ralph, who turns his head from him as well, showing that the butterfly is still on its back.
In the second dream, the Black Cadillac from the first dream stopped in front of a Victorian country house. Insistent sounds of croaking crickets are heard through the whole sequence. The right leg of a woman comes out of the car. Ralph, still in his suit and without his hairpiece, is walking towards the entrance of the house. Halfway, he slows down and looks towards the camera. Tony walks towards the house. As he walks, his dresses turn from a black shirt to a tank top, straps, dirty work pants and beat-up shoes. He turns for a moment, then he proceeds.
When he reaches the porch of the house, he knocks on the mosquito net. After a while, the door opens by itself with a squeaky sound. Tony, in a broken English, asks if there's anybody in there. A shadowy figure comes downstairs, stopping halfway. Tony says that he's there for the Stonemason job, and, when the figure stays silent, adds that he doesn't speak English and that he's sorry. The figure stays silent, and doesn't react when Tony opens the mosquito-net. Tony steps inside.
