This proposal is for the wiki to be expanded to cover movies and video games as well.

  1. A wiki alternative to IMDB would be very nice, and it would be stupid to have seperate wikis for each, since there is so much overlap. The question is, is there any reason not to cover movies and games as well? - Indecision 22:32, 27 Sep 2005 (EDT)
    1. Movies and games should only be considered at this point if the game/movie has something to do with a specific television show. For instance, maybe the Buffy the Vampire Slayer game and definitely Serenity. Those have some impact on the storyline and should probably be mentioned. However, considering how ambitious this undertaking is already, I don't think expanding into the nebulous world of movies and video games would be in our best interests as it would spread efforts way too thin. --IndieRockLance 13:27, 7 Oct 2005 (EDT)
  2. We need to focus on TV for now. Once we have TV covered well, we can consider other additions. --CygnusTM 09:17, 28 Sep 2005 (EDT)
  3. One exception I think we should make is for Machinima. Only major shows like Red vs. Blue though. Jacoplane 13:22, 9 Nov 2005 (EST)
    1. But that's still not television. Those are essentially short films with videogame characters. If they get aired on something like G4, sure, go nuts. But until then, we should constrain ourselves to only stuff that airs over the idiot box. --14:07, 9 Nov 2005 (EST)
      1. What about made-for-TV movies? —Naddy 21:09, 19 March 2006 (EST)
        1. I say go for it. Masters of Horror has an article and that was essentially nothing more than a series of made-for-tv movies under an umbrella title. So, if you want to make an article for one of those awful sci-fi channel movies or something, it would seem appropriate to add it. --IndieRockLance 22:26, 19 March 2006 (EST)
        2. I did make a page for SCI FI Pictures. --Lampbane 23:12, 19 March 2006 (EST)
          1. As an experiment I've created a page for one of those, Hammerhead: Shark Frenzy, and a tentative Template:Tvmovie. —Naddy 13:49, 14 May 2006 (EDT)
  • This is crazy! I say movies tied to a tv seres continuity (like south park: bigger longer and uncut, X-files, Batman: the Mask of the Phanthasm, Batman (1969), Stargate, Star Trek, etc) and tv movies are ok but regular movies are off limits for now, but we should consider expanding to that, plus videogames and comics for a middle term future. Why was this wiki formed anyways? I guess the idea was to create a tv encyclopedia in order to keep wikipedia clean from tv episode or character articles (... how ever they will still have movie characters, video game characters, comics, comic characters, and several other "non encyclopedic" material there...), however we are not aloud to take info and pictures from there, we have to create the articles all over again!--Ădnamör Ėrtrø-utroep Eddrwa Eojs 07:55, 9 July 2006 (EDT)
    • The reasoning behind the creation of this site had nothing to do with keeping TV stuff off Wikipedia. It was created as a sort of "replacement" for TVTome after it was bought by Cnet and turned into tv.com, and wiki software was the easiest solution to wanting the site to be easily editable by users. TV IV has no affiliation with Wikipedia and never will. --Hawkman | talk 11:34, 9 July 2006 (EDT)
