The TV IV:Proposals/What's the deal with Wikipedia data?
From The TV IV
Why was this Wiki created for if we can't move the wikipedia tv info here? The existence of this Wiki implies that wikipedia will be focusing on more enciclopedia-like material. If not, why would Wikimedia want to have the same kind of tv info on both Wikis? Half people in wikipedia tend not to like detailed tv info and slow the process of elaborating tv related articles. I think a deal shold be made to move the info here. --Ădnamör Ėrtrø-utroep Eddrwa Eojs 08:11, 9 July 2006 (EDT)

- Not only does this wiki not have any affiliation with Wikipedia, many of the Wikipedia articles for television shows are desparately lacking in decent content. We don't want to be Wikipedia: TV Edition, so the content must be original. Why would anyone want to use this resource if it was just the same information from Wikipedia? --IndieRockLance 14:09, 9 July 2006 (EDT)
- Wikipedia sucks. TVIV is for TV shows. If it's related to TV, it can be here, no arbitrary "well that's not encyclopedic enough" stuff here. This is meant to replace tvtome, not wikipedia's bad tv articles. --MateoP 16:58, 9 July 2006 (EDT)
Links
I also think we shold be abble to put links into our articles to wikipedia articles and vice versa.--Ădnamör Ėrtrø-utroep Eddrwa Eojs 08:11, 9 July 2006 (EDT)
- You can link to the Wikipedia article for the show in "External Links" and you can link to other articles when necessary, such as in "Allusions and References" when something obscure needs to be explained. However, linking to a Wikipedia article is not a replacement for putting actual content on any page. -- Lampbane 14:21, 9 July 2006 (EDT)
Images
There are lots of tv sreenshots on wikipedia that we should be able to use here.
Comments
- Most of Wikipedia's TV shots suck. They're low-res, they often are taken from other places without attribution and worse yet they're usually not fullsized shots. If it's a promotional image, then feel free to upload it here, but no screenshots should be taken from Wikipedia. --IndieRockLance 14:09, 9 July 2006 (EDT)
