Reviews?

  1. What is the policy on reviews? I was thinking that at the bottom of the Episode page (and/or at the bottom of the main Show page and/or at the bottom of the Season pages) we could have a section for reviews. The reviews would go to ../Reviews/USERNAME like that. I don't see a problem with this at all. It doesn't mess up the NPOV of the main episode/season/show pages and still allows for reviews. Thoughts?--MateoP 15:22, 19 Sep 2005 (EDT)
    1. Now that I think about it, this isn't really an original idea. I'm sure that others have already done something similar. If so, what is the format for doing so?--MateoP 15:23, 19 Sep 2005 (EDT)
  1. See this page for an example, and there is a Greasemonkey script that will auto-generate the episode template for you here. --Randall 14:56, 20 Sep 2005 (EDT)
Have any examples where someone included a review? Do they just post the review in that spot and then add their signature, or do they link to a "/USERNAME" page that includes the review? --MateoP 18:32, 20 Sep 2005 (EDT)
They increase the counter for the appropriate grade (ie: A+0->A+1) and then include the review as a bullet with their signature. Example here Kerecsen --18:48, 20 Sep 2005 (EDT)

Broken links

When I'm not logged in, and I go to the main page and click on any program category, I can't reach any page past the first one. Clicking on 'next' or any letter takes me back to the same page with "A-D" shows (for example). The only way to reach a specific show is with a search (or to log in). I hope this problem can be fixed soon, because it's the main reason why I don't visit much. Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place or already discussed. I read all over the site and didn't see any mention of this. -taegdv

Hey, I'll look into it. Thanks for bringing it up. --Wizardryo\talk 03:16, 18 December 2006 (EST)

Resolved

I think some of these pages could be marked as resolved (such as "What's the deal with Wikipedia data?"). In fact, they probably should be marked as such so we can focus on the open issues. -- Lampbane 11:43, 22 January 2007 (EST)

automated searching should handle encoded characters (like spaces)

Many tools allow you to go right into a search on a certain page without actually visiting the page first. A notable example: in Firefox, if you right click on any search box, you can "add a keyword for this search."

Using these methods works great most of the time. If I search in wikipedia from a keyword, like "great wall of china," the spaces are converted to %20, which are in turn read as underscores, as per the site's default format. Sadly, this breaks tviv's search. If I search for "The Black Donnellys" through an external search, I get an error, "You searched for the%20black%20donnellys; No page title matches; No page text matches"

It'd be nice to use the same process wikipedia uses for these external searches, it would dramatically increase the usability of tviv and integration with browsers like Firefox, and other methods of external searching. I think it is in essence an issue with encoding, but my knowledge of the fine workings of such things is limited. If anyone else knows more about this issue, your thoughts would be hugely appreciated.

Not sure who proposes new ideas, so just thought I'd leave it here. --User6985 19:54, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
