The Vampira Show is a horror movie show which aired in local syndication on Los Angeles ABC-owned station KABC-TV.
Actress and show host Maila Nurmi, in character as the glamorous and vampish Vampira, introduced horror movies from a Gothic-style set and appeared in macabre-themed humorous segments. The concept of a themed host introducing movies, which was pioneered with The Vampira Show, was later duplicated at stations throughout the United States and around the world, most notably with such shows as Elvira's Movie Macabre and Svengoolie.
