Notes
Arc Advancement
Happenings
- Dr. Venture takes his boat (the X-2) out to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean to recover the wreckage of a spacecraft his father built. He eventually locates the fallen craft, but is pulled away from it before he can send the coordinates back to the boat.
- Pirates attack the boat while Dr. Venture is underwater. Brock and Hank are taken prisoner, though Brock escapes. The corpse/ghost of the dead pilot arrives and terrorizes the boat, before Brock arrives and knocks his head off.
Characters
- This is the first time we see the members of the original Team Venture, including the Action Man. Major Tom was also a member, but he was killed when the experimental spacecraft malfunctioned.

Trivia
References
- David Bowie: The conversation between Major Tom and Dr. Jonas Venture is taken from the lyrics of the songs "Space Oddity" and "Ashes to Ashes" by David Bowie. Both of those songs feature a character named Major Tom.
- Scooby Doo: The pirates' practice of scaring their victims by having one of them dress up as a ghost is identical to the running gag on Scooby Doo where the ghosts they tracked down almost always turned out to be people in rubber masks.
- Leggs: The pirate captain mentions that their last big haul was a shipment of Leggs eggs. Leggs is a brand of women's pantyhose sold inside plastic eggs.
