Plot Overview
The 3rd part of the story of Francis Marion, the "Swamp Fox", opens at the patriot leader gathers information on the British activities from several of his informers. Although many people believe his fiancee, Mary Videaux, to be a Tory, she is actually one of his most valuable sources of information. In order to discover what she has learned, Marion must confront Mary as she visits the Townes, the local Tory leaders, and pretends to bully her as he questions her. Despite their best efforts at secrecy, Colonel Tarleton, the local military commander, begins to suspect Mary.
