Overview
An exploration of the science fiction classic The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. The episode discusses the long history of the fascination mankind has had with the planet Mars that inspired H.G. Wells. After dissecting the book, the impact it had in popular culture is explored with a lengthy profile of the infamous 1938 radio dramatisation by Orson Welles. There are also other influences it had, including a musical version that spawned many adaptations of its own. Finally, a look is given at how science has further examined the red planet and how this has made clear the gulf between fiction and reality.
