USWA Challenge is an American professional wrestling program that aired in first-run syndication. It began in 1982 as World Class Championship Wrestling, the program for the Dallas-based promotion of the same name (which had changed its name that year from its former branding of Big Time Wrestling). It later became one of the two nationally-syndicated programs for WCCW (the other being Wild West Wrestling, which was originally the program for the short-lived Fort Worth-based promotion of that name before its purchase by WCCW) until WCCW's purchase by Memphis wrestling promoter Jerry Jarrett and subsequent renaming to the United States Wrestling Association in August 1989, at which point World Class Championship Wrestling was renamed as USWA Challenge and continued production under that name until it ended in August 1990.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) purchased the pre-1989 World Class Championship Wrestling footage in 2006 for its WWE Libraries collection, while post-1988 footage (including that for USWA Challenge) is under the ownership of the Savoldi family, former owners of Boston-based promotion International Championship Wrestling.[1]
