Basic Information

Claire is the alcoholic wife of Bradford Meade and mother of Daniel and Alexis who was arrested for the murder of Fey Summers.

Character History

Claire, who has been married to Bradford for over 38 years, is a socialite whose years of drinking was the result of Bradford's 20 year affair with Fey Sommers, which in turn fueled her hatred towards the late Editor-In-Chief, even after forcing Bradford to choose between the two. Afterwards, Claire would fix the brakes on Fey's car, resulting in Sommers' death. Betty would later find out after Claire confessed to her while Bradford was in jail after he was framed by Alexis for Fey's demise. Betty would also be the one to convince Claire to turn herself in, and she does just that.

As she prepares to face jail time, she wanted to repair the disarray in the family by making Daniel and Alexis co-Editor-In-Chiefs at MODE. Thats because Claire is the actually owner of MODE; Bradford just publishes the magazine so he can evade taxes on it. When Wilhelmina learns of this, she tries to manipulate her but Claire sees through her scheme and warns her that MODE will only be run by a Meade. This prompts Wilhelmina to manipulate Bradford by marrying her, so she succeeds in convincing Bradford to divorce Claire after Wilhelmina sets up Claire while she is incarsarated.

In the first season finale, Claire teamed up with a fellow inmate named Yoga to make a prison break, which they succeed in doing, as they attempt to stop Wilhelmina from taking over the Meade Publications empire.
