Harrison Blackwood is the main character in the television series War of the Worlds.

Basic Information

Was an astrophysicist at the New Pacific Institute of Technology with Norton Drake. At the time he was engaged to a woman name Charlotte, but his obsession with the return of the aliens caused the end of their relationship.

Character History

As a child, Harrison's world was forever changed when the aliens invaded Earth in 1953. Barely three days in, his parents were killed. Orphaned, he was adopted by a colleague of his parents, Dr Clayton Forrester. As a result, he grew steeped in his research on the aliens.

• Hypnotises a guard to get he and the others of the team out of a Canadian jail.

Trivia

• Michael Nouri was actually cast as Harrison Blackwood, but backed out at the last minute over the issue of his salary.

• Uses many New Age techniques such as yoga and a tuning fork as a memory retrieval tool.

• While said to be a pacifist, Harrison is shown using violence when forced to combat the aliens. However, he refuses every offer to take a gun.

• Is a vegetarian, a trait that he just so happens to share with the aliens.

• Many of Harrison's characteristics in the first season were effectively wiped with the second season, easily suffering the worst makeover due to the seasonal shift.
