A.K.A. The Plant is the fourth episode of the second season of Weeds, and the fourteenth episode overall. Nancy and Conrad get things set up at the grow house but run into trouble with competition.

Plot Overview

Nancy helps Celia distribute campaign information, but they find that people seem to be supporting Doug. A woman approaches Celia about Isabelle doing some modelling for plus sized children's clothes. Isabelle is excited, but Celia is insulted. Meanwhile, Dean Hodes gets fired from his job because of downsizing. In his rage, he goes to the grow house and finally punches Conrad.

Meanwhile, Shane gets picked on at school for never having gotten a hand job. Andy takes him to a brothel. The prostitute there refuses to do it, until Shane breaks out crying. When they get home, Shane cancels movie night with Nancy because he's too tired. So she takes the opportunity to go out with Peter to the firing range. Andy goes out with Yael and they hit it off, but she tells him that she's not attracted to him because he is not manly enough for her.

After Nancy's date she goes to the grow house to watch Victor set things up. Someone comes to the door, Conrad answers, who tells him that they've got to leave the neighborhood. He is part of a grow business as well, and according to Victor he means business. Conrad wants them to find a new place, but Nancy confidently tells them that they'll find a solution to the problem.

Happenings

• Campaiging: Nancy goes campaigning with Celia but everywhere they stop they find people who are supporters of Doug. Celia runs into a woman who wants to use Isabelle as a plus-sized children's clothing model, but Celia finds it insulting. Her and Isabelle get into an argument about how Isabelle never gets to do what she wants.

• The Grow House: Nancy gets the power turned on at the grow house under a false name. Meanwhile, Andy and Doug get high smoking a hookah and order internet service. Conrad turns the guy away because they used Nancy's real name. Conrad orders the best grow house equipment from an expert named Victor. While they are setting things up a man comes to the door and tells Conrad that they must leave the neighborhood; he's a dealer as well.

Characters

• Yael: Andy finally gets a date with his admissions officer from Hebrew school, Yael. They go out on a date and seem to be hitting it off well. She tells him a story of an ex-boyfriend who shot her before they had sex. Thinking she was up for it, he goes in for a kiss, but Yael tells Andy that she's not attracted to him because he isn't manly enough.

Referbacks

• Pregnancy: In Last Tango in Agrestic Silas and Megan got back together and started having a lot of sex because they would not be able to be together much longer (with Megan going off to college). Silas punctured one of his condoms at the end of the episode. Here they find out that Megan is pregnant, and tell a stunned Nancy that they want to keep it.

• Heylia: Heylia hasn't left the house in the past couple of days waiting from a call from Joseph. He finally does call, but wants to only talk on the phone to avoid temptation (he's a member of Nation of Islam), but Heylia pushes for a date.
