Plot Overview

Nancy wakes up and discovers that her boyfriend, Peter Scottson, is a DEA agent. She confronts him about it, and when he admits it she makes an excuse and leaves quickly and nervously. She comes home where everyone gives her a hard time for not telling them that she was spending the night at Peter's place. She goes to the bakery where Conrad gives her a rundown of the financial situation needed in order for them to start growing their own marijuana. She tells him that she slept with the DEA agent which freaks him. He tells her that he's out of the business.

Meanwhile Celia gets into a car accident and asks Doug at a city council meeting for a traffic light to be put up in that intersection but he claims that all of the money from the budget has already been allocated. Celia and Nancy meet for dinner where they go over their recent troubles. Nancy suggests that Celia run for city council, which she takes to when she realizes that Doug's seat is up for re-election this year. She meets with a friend and starts planning her campaign for office. Celia's husband comes home and tells her that he's not going to be Doug's campaign manager (as he'd done in the past) because she's running. Doug comes over and when it's obvious that Celia doesn't want him as a campaign manager, Dean joins back with Doug.

Andy goes for an interview to get into rabbinical school in order to avoid going to war. He's turned down when its obvious that he's feeding them lies, but manages to talk them into giving him a chance. Meanwhile Nancy goes to Heylia's and gives Conrad a difficult time. Later that night Nancy comes home in a bad mood and forces the family to all sit together and have a family meal. However, it's interrupted when Nancy gets a call from Sanjay saying that he's burnt down the bakery.

Notes

Arc Advancement

Happenings

  • Fire: The bakery goes up in flames because of Sanjay's "clumsiness". Nancy and Conrad had discussed an insurance scam earlier and Sanjay knowingly smiles at Nancy while she is talking to the fire chief about the cause of the fire indicating he knows exactly what he did.
  • Campaigning: Celia gets into a car accident and goes to the city council suggesting that a traffic light be put up at the intersection where it happened. Rejected, Celia decides to run for office (at Nancy's suggestion), and it happens to be up against Doug who's not too happy to have to run against someone for the first time in a while.

Characters

  • Peter Scottson: Nancy finds out that Peter works for the DEA when she wakes up the morning after spending the night at his place for the first time. Freaked out, she makes an excuse to leave and tells her that they will get together when she calls him.
  • Conrad Shepard: Nancy tells Conrad about her relationship with a DEA agent. He immediately suspects that their relationship is no coincidence and that the DEA is trying to infiltrate their marijuana business. He's in fact so freaked out that he decides to quit the partnership.
  • Andy Botwin: Andy tries to get out of going to Iraq by enrolling into Rabbi school. The interviewer isn't too impressed with his fake knowledge of Judaism but decides to give him a chance when he shows that he's desperate.
