- Certain aspects of the episodes parody the science fiction film 2001: A Space Odyssey including Hank's name a play on Hal 9000, and the soft and calm way in which he talks to the boys in the latter half. The scene of him trying to read Wyatt and Gary's lips spoofs a similar scene in the film.
