Plot Overview

Mortgage broker Dena Weiner of Southern California is a professional fitness competitor who is at the gym every morning and sticks to a diet of lean protein. Dena's three sons: 15-year-old Kyle, 14-year-old Brett and 13-year-old Justin are active in sports. She and her husband, Keith spend much of their time shuttling their sons to various sporting events. Keith and the boys are responsible for most of the household chores and if the boys don't finish their chores properly, Keith will get them out of bed at 6:30 in the morning.

Dena swaps lives with Dawne Smith of Southern Florida. Dawne is a stay-at-home mother who coddles her two sons, 13-year-old Shane and 10-year-old Jesse and does everything around the house while her husband, Jeff is away on business four days a week. The boys are allowed to stay up as late and eat as much junk food as they want and Dawne encourages them to express their emotions & sensitivity. Every week, the Smith family has "circle time" where each person says something positive about the other person.
