Season Seven of 24 was originally meant to premiere on January 13, 2008, but the Writers Guild strike caused FOX to put the series on an indefinite hiatus dependent on when the strike ended. Had the season gone on as scheduled, it would have ran out of episodes in less than two months because only eleven episodes were ready for production. In the end the season premiere was delayed until January 11, 2009 so that it could still air all 24 hours in a row. To bridge the delay the TV-Movie 24: Redemption was made and broadcast in November 2008.
After negative reviews and sinking ratings for season six the show was retooled and relocated. Once again most of the cast is new and for the first time most of the action will take place in Washington, DC instead of Los Angeles.
