Plot Overview

Ambushed while recovering a Roman plate of the Italian Coast, the team make their escape in their dinghy that Gabriel has adapted with a part he bought from a salvage yard that greatly improved the performance of the engine.

Gabriel enthused about this "Gill" that was a synthetic membrane fuel filter that could also enable divers to breath underwater without air tanks

Tracing the owners of the salvaged ship, Gabriel found it was owned by Philo Pendergast and Richard Helmer. Pendergast was living close by in Amalfi at Central Research Institue but this was a mental institution and Pendergast was delusional and beleived he was from Atlantis. Mackenzie sensing something was wrong determined with Gabriel to release him later but things go wrong leaving Mackenzie in deadly danger.

Helmer has $12 million reasons to obtain a working gill involving experimental biological weapons on a sunken wreck guarded by United Nation forces.

Meanwhile Judson is having all sorts of trouble try to deliver the Roman plate to museum curator Daniel Olivieri.
