Plot Overview
In Central Europe 1951 a scientist, Jan Moleska, and his daughter are on the run from communists. Unable to run any more, the scientist gives his daughter a locket which contains a secret formula to give to the President of the United States. She escapes just before capture and heads towards Metropolis. However, his plane landed in Philadelphia and she had to go Washington by train.
Meanwhile, Lois and Clark meet an organ grinder on the street who has a monkey. The monkey, when giving Lois a fortune, accidentally gives her a message intended for a Harold Crane. Tony Urmenti, the organ grinder, tells Crane that the message was taken, and Crane has him killed. Lois, who has pursued the lead, finds Maria (Moleska's daughter) knocked out on the train just before being knocked out herself.
Superman arrives at the train but the criminal had just gotten away. Max, Crane's partner, returns to Metropolis with the locket, but hears on the radio that the Daily Planet and the police department are looking for the monkey, who they believe could help them. Max goes looking for the monkey, but Jim has found him first. They get into a fight and the monkey gets away. Clark comes up with the idea to use the monkey to find the criminals. He sends the monkey with a note which leads them to Crane's apartment. There, Superman bursts into the room and knocks both men out and takes the secret formula to safety.
