Happenings
- King Bumi surrenders Omashu to the Fire Nation. Azula renames the city "New Ozai" to honor her father.
- Aang and friends arrive at Omashu only to discover that the city has been taken over with King Bumi willingly taken prisoner. As such, he cannot teach Aang the art of Earthbending. He tells Aang that he must find someone who "waits and listens."
Characters
- Mai: The first appearance of Mai, one of Azula's childhood friends. Her father was just appointed governor of Omashu, bringing his family with him to the Earth Kingdom city. Mai is bored there, so she readily agrees to join Azula in trying to capture the Avatar.
- Ty Lee: The first appearance of Ty Lee, the other of Azula's childhood friends. After leaving school she chose to join the circus, but Azula "convinces" her (by making her circus act more dangerous) to quit that and assist Azula in capturing the Avatar.
